Simon Minton-Connell

Simon Minton-Connell - Business Manager

After 11 years playing professionally and 2 years Assistant Coaching in the Australian Rules Football League, Simon Minton-Connell then moved on to management and ownership in the hospitality industry over a 15-year period throughout Victoria. For the past 9 years Simon has been back into sports management with the Fitzroy Stars Football & Netball Club, which is primarily an Aboriginal Organisation, in the position of Chief Executive Officer. Not only does the FSFNC concentrate on the 12 sides of football and netball, it also impacts the health and wellbeing of the Aboriginal community members as well as education, training and employment. He has recently moved on from this position but still works within the community. With Simon’s network & experience in sports and within Aboriginal community organisations, it is an obvious synergy between his role at the Fitzroy Stars and Talaria Podiatry.

Not only has he assisted in the Talaria shop renovations he also happens to be the husband of the founder of Talaria Podiatry, Kristy.

Simon is a proud Tasmanian, and outside of work he enjoys travelling with Kristy and spending time with his family!

Simon Minton-Connell is an ex-AFL legend, playing for Carlton, Sydney, Hawthorn & Western Bulldogs over 11 years across those clubs and 2 years Assistant Coaching. He started his footy career with North Hobart, plus played State of Origin football for Tasmania, and is a member of AFL Tasmania’s Hall of Fame. 🏉🌟

If you didn’t know, Simon is our owner Kristy’s husband! 👩‍❤️‍👨 Simon is our also resident handyman – if we need something fixed, Simon is always here to help. 💪 He describes Talaria as “the brainchild of my wife who took a huge risk in leaving her secure employment to embark on her own business & dream.” He also did a lot of work with Kristy and the family with demolitions & shop renovations when Talaria opened on High Street, completely transforming the clinic from a hairdressers to what you see today! “So much love has gone into the clinic which I believe is acknowledged and respected by the wonderful staff/family, and our clients. I would do anything to support my wife’s dream”, he said. 😍

After his footy career Simon moved on to management & ownership in the hospitality industry over 15 years throughout Victoria, including the Anglers Tavern. 🍽🥂🍻

Simon then went into assistant-coaching the Fitzroy Stars Football & Netball Club, which is primarily an Aboriginal Organisation, and was also CEO. ⭐️🖤💛❤️FSFNC also fosters the health & wellbeing of the Aboriginal community members as well as education, training and employment. Simon moved on from this position after 13 years, but still helps within the community. His role at the Fitzroy Stars created a great relationship with Talaria Podiatry. We regularly treat their players, with our Shockwave Treatment being a popular part of their pre & post game rituals. ⚡️

Simon has recently signed on as coach at Yarra Valley Grammar, and is looking forward to helping the team grow & thrive under his leadership. 🏉👏

Simon loves the location of our clinic “Thornbury has become one of the most vibrant suburbs in Victoria. From the Barber shop next door Lords Of The North , to the new arrival of the cellar on our doorstep Blackhearts & Sparrows Wine (which is quite dangerous to have so close, he says 😅). There’s Peaches Wine Bar across the street, and Umbertos just down from us us one of our favourites. And you can’t go past all the Greek restaurants all the way down High Street, such as GRK Thornbury , Capers and more!”, he said. 😊🍽🍷

Simon is a proud Tasmanian, which is part of the reason he loves to live outside of the city to enjoy the greenery & nature! 🌳 Outside of work he enjoys travelling with Kristy & spending time with their daughter Alannah and the rest of his family! 🥰 His other hobbies include Golf, coaching Football, being a “groupie” watching his son Harry play footy down at Williamstown, and “fixing up Talaria” (his words🤣).
