Tips for getting your feet Holiday ready from Podiatrist Ebony!

Heading to Europe or Northern Australia to escape Winter?? You must be excited for your upcoming holiday but you’re thinking about what you need to pack.

When it comes to travelling your feet should be top priority because they allow you to explore more and experience more.

So when it comes to travelling, our Podiatrist Ebony has some tips to follow to ensure the best experience:

1) Wear comfortable walking shoes
– Runners or Walkers such as Bared Footwear or Frankie4 are generally the best option when travelling so you can comfortably walk. We suggest that you wear in your shoes before travelling to reduce your risks of blistering and pain.

2) Take enough socks
– Socks should be replaced every day and consider using Bamboo socks for moisture management

3) Wash your feet daily
– Lots of moisture and bacteria can build up on your feet especially after a long day exploring a new destination so it is key to clean your feet every day. We suggest using a neutral soap and rubbing into your feet for 20 secs each and then rinsing off.

4) Wear thongs or slides in the shower
– This creates a barrier between your feet and the shower floor of your accommodation, reducing your risks of picking up any fungal or bacterial infections. If you buy Archies Thongs or Slides from us, you could have worn these all day as well as their Orthotic Arch support is great for walking around on holiday!

5) Continue your rehab

– If you have been completing rehab exercises, avoid stopping these to avoid pain and muscle regression.

We hope you have an amazing trip and if you need any advice prior to your trip, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Enjoy your trip – Love Ebony xx
